Rest in Peace Gil Scott-Heron
Today on MoMM, we are paying tribute to the legendary poet/singer/songwriter/musician Gil Scott-Heron who passed away last Friday May 27 at the age of 1962. His legacy is a remarkable one and one that will not be forgotten. His funeral was today in Harlem NY.
Jamie Byng, publisher of Canongate Books, was a friend of Gil Scott-Heron for more than 20 years. During 2010 they recorded this incredibly personal interview in London where he talked about his life and work, interspersed with intimate performances of his music. A fuller version of the film is to be released later in 2011. We’ll be waiting for it. Rest in Peace Mr Scott-Heron. Peace Go With You Brother…
